Master Gardeners of Roane County (MGRC) is a trained and dedicated volunteer network that expands the outreach of the Tennessee Master Gardener Program to serve the horticulture education needs of the local community.
A part of the University of Tennessee Extension Service, the Tennessee Extension Master Gardener program seeks to improve the lives of Tennesseans by promoting environmental stewardship, non-commercial food production, and human health and well-being through horticulture education and outreach.
The Master Gardeners of Roane County promote environmental stewardship and share the joys of gardening with the Roane County community through civic organizations, schools, and local events.
MGRC activities include:
- Conducting gardening workshops and seminars throughout the year
- Coordinating and managing gardening-related service projects
- Answering gardening or landscaping questions posed by community residents
- Writing about gardening topics of interest to our community
- Providing landscape design for community parks
- Educating children through school sponsored programs
