The MGRC Annual Plant Sale is a highly anticipated event in Roane County. This is the major fundraising event and provides the monies to support all MGRC sponsored projects. The plant sale is held the last Saturday in April. For the past several years, the sale has been held at the Kingston City Park- rain or shine.
Throughout the year MGRC members divide and propagate selections from their gardens and grow plants from seed, just for the sale. Flowers, herbs, vegetables – there’s always an interesting selection, with many varieties you won’t find at the local garden centers. Perennials, annuals, bulbs, woody trees and shrubs, grasses and groundcovers – each year offers surprises and something unexpected.
MGRC members are very creative and make garden art for the sale. Birdhouses, hypertufa planters, decorative posts and stakes – you’re sure to find that perfect addition to your garden. There are even gently used tools, with many years of service still in them. A raffle, with items donated by members and local businesses, rounds out the offerings.
